PANAMA CITY BEACH — Police have arrested a Panama City Beach man after a Florida woman was hit and killed early Sunday.
Investigators said 45-year-old Lora Ione York was walking west along the north side of Front Beach Road when a Hummer H3 struck her near the Seachase condominiums, 17351 Front Beach Road. Panama City Beach Police reported the woman is from Northwest Florida, but they didn’t release a hometown.
The Hummer didn’t stop, and Beach Police reported they believed they were looking for a light-colored Hummer H3 with serious front-end damage with a missing black louvered portion on the hood and portions of the chrome grille.
Hours later, police announced they had found the driver of the Hummer, David Wayne Turner, 44. Police didn’t release details about how they found Turner, but they said he was taken into custody without incident.
He has been charged with leaving the scene of a crash with a death.
The investigation continues, police said in a news release.
