BONIFAY — A one-car crash left an 11-year-old child dead and two Chipley teens injured in Holmes County, according to a Florida Highway Patrol crash report.
The FHP reported Brandon Nellums, 18, of Chipley, was driving eastbound on Bonifay-Chipley Road shortly after 8 p.m. Sunday when he lost traction while attempting to negotiate a curve in the roadway as he approached the intersection at Tri-County Road, officers reported.
The 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix began to rotate clockwise, traveling onto the south shoulder of the roadway and colliding with the embankment before overturning and coming to a final rest on its roof, facing south on the south shoulder of the roadway.
Passengers Tiffany Nellums, 17, and Isaac Nellums, 11, both of Chipley, were ejected from the vehicle.
Brandon Nellums, who the FHP wrote was the sole occupant to be wearing a seatbelt, is reported to have suffered minor injuries. Tiffany Nellums’ injuries are listed as serious, while Isaac Nellums died, officers reported.
Charges are pending as FHP’s investigation continues.
