PANAMA CITY BEACH — A man was arrested for giving false information to a law enforcement officer on Tuesday, the Panama City Beach Police Department reported.
Nichquolas Dawon Beasley, 20 of Louisville, Kent., was charged after investigation disproved his claims of an incident in Pier Park, PCBPD reported. Subsequent investigation led to the recovery of a firearm.
Beasley claimed he was shot by an unknown assailant at around 6 p.m. on Tuesday, police said. He said bystanders transported him to an Urgent Care Center on Back Beach Road and he was subsequently moved to Bay Medical Center for treatment of a gunshot wound to his left leg, police said.
Police identified the vehicle, a 2009 Toyota Corolla, which belonged to a friend and investigators found specific evidence indicating the shooting happened inside the car, PCBPD said. Statements from the vehicle owner and passenger not only disproved Beasley’s claims but also led to recovery of a gun, according to police.
Beasley was transported to the Bay County Jail and awaited first appearance.
