PANAMA CITY BEACH — Authorities are on the hunt for a suspect who allegedly stabbed a man six times, according to a Bay County Sheriff’s Office news release.
Joseph Patrick Grimes, 55, suffered sever injuries in the incident, BCSO reported.
BCSO dispatchers received a call Monday night at about 10:20 p.m. that a man had been stabbed on Commerce Drive. When BCSO deputies arrived, they found Grimes was suffering from six stab wounds, laying on his side near a dumpster, BCSO reported.
Grimes said he’d been attacked by a black male, who came up from behind, while he was dumpster diving. The man was wearing a sleeveless white t-shirt and blue jeans, he told investigators.
Authorities conducted a search of the area alongside a K-9 unit, but the suspect could not be located.
Grimes was taken to a local hospital with severe injuries where he underwent surgery. Investigators were unable Tuesday to speak with Grimes, BCSO said.
Officials are asking that anyone who has any information on the identity or location of the suspect, please call Investigator Stephen Rhinehart at 850-747-4700 or call Crime Stoppers.
