PANAMA CITY BEACH — Two women were rushed to the hospital with serious injuries after an early Wednesday morning wreck, according to Panama City Beach Police Department reports.
Tonya Stevenson, of Panama City Beach, was listed in critical condition Wednesday afternoon. Gwendolyn McNeil, of Southport, was listed in stable condition, PCBPD reported.
Police responded to the area of Porter Drive on Back Beach Road (U.S. 98) at about 3:40 a.m. Wednesday. Stevenson was driving west on U.S. 98 when she lost control of the vehicle, which collided with multiple trees in the center median, spun around and came to rest facing east in the westbound lanes of travel, officers reported.
Moments later, a white 1996 Chevrolet Cavalier, driven by McNeil, struck the resting Ford Sport head on.
Both drivers were transported taken to a local hospital with serious injuries. The investigation into the cause of this crash is ongoing.
