WASHINGTON COUNTY — The Washington County Sheriff's Office is actively seeking a man who left a 45-year-old woman knocked unconscious in the Sunny Hills community earlier this evening.

Deputies had received information that a fugitive from Brevard County was possibly staying at a residence on Bunyon Drive in Sunny Hills and were in en route to the residence around 5:10 p.m. when they were spotted by the suspect, 29 year-old Daryle Mollett.

After seeing the officers, Mollett ran a stop sign and wrecked his vehicle after nearly striking a deputy's patrol car. He then fled on foot, presumably toward the entrance of the Sunny Hills community. During the ensuing chase, deputies came upon a woman near the entrance of the community who had been struck in the head with a heavy object.

Investigators say Mollett attacked the 45 year-old victim and took her car, a red 2011 Volkswagen Jetta, and fled in an unknown direction. The Jetta's tag number is 44101JZ.

Mollett is described as a white male, standing about 5' 8" and weighing about 120 lbs.

"This fugitive is considered dangerous," said Washington County Sheriff Bobby Haddock. "If you spot him, call 911 immediately."

Brevard County has been pursing Mollett for the past three days on charges of felon in possession of a firearm, aggravated assault with a firearm, and armed robbery.

The Northwest Florida Reception Center is assisting with the search.
