PANAMA CITY BEACH — The Bay County Sheriff’s Office announced law enforcement will be ramping up along routes leading to Panama City Beach following the arrest of 11 people on drug and firearm charges.
BCSO has been working with out-of-town law enforcement agencies to conduct proactive enforcement activities for people traveling to Panama City Beach for Spring Break. Officers conducted a checkpoint operation Thursday in the Phenix City, Alabama, area and netted 11 subjects who were traveling to the Beach on drugs and firearms charges.

Officers made arrests on one count of cocaine possession, eight counts for marijuana, two counts of concealed firearms, one count of possession of brass knuckles, two counts of fleeing and eluding and one count of reckless endangerment.
BCSO reports three subjects were arrested on outstanding warrants. Two suspects were tased as a result of resisting law enforcement, officers said.
Russell County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Alabama Highway Patrol, Russell County Emergency Management and the Metro Narcotics Task Force.
Bay County Sheriff Frank McKeithen thanked the assisting agencies and said additional enforcement activities will be occurring on routes leading to Panama City Beach.
